Sponsored Satellite Program: New Insights on Diets and Health

Sponsored By: Nestle R&D

This Sponsored Satellite Program was originally presented at NUTRITION 2024, ASN's flagship meeting which was held June 29 to July 2, 2024 in Chicago, IL.

Nutritional sciences have developed from identifying essential nutrients and their effects on health to studying effects of dietary pattern on health. In this program, we will delve into current evidence related to health impacts from single nutrients to diets. As digital tools are widely used across many parts of daily live, they become also more commonly used for dietary and meal advice. Evidence on how digital tools can be developed and used to support guidance towards healthy diets will be shared. Finally, we will summarize how the gut microbiome may influence our diets, and vice versa how diets impact the microbiome.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain current status of evidence related to the impact of single nutrients and complex diets on health
  • Illustrate how algorithms can be designed that provide meal suggestions in line with healthy diets and Food Based Dietary Guidelines
  • Describe the nexus of the gut microbiome, the diet and health impact
