The growing transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) community has been historically underrepresented in nutrition science despite growing evidence of nutrition-related disparities (e.g. eating disorders, food insecurity, excess adiposity).

Human research examining how diet and gut microbiome interactions influence health is underway globally in the form of large-scale cohort studies as well as smaller dietary interventions.

This session will identify the gaps and limitations of current nutrition policy and monitoring tools for ethnic minorities and underrepresented groups in the US; explore the best practices and strategies for recruiting diverse and representative samples of participants for nutrition studies, and
