Sponsored Satellite Program: Optimizing NAD Status: A Call to Action for Nutrition Research
Sponsored By: ChromaDex
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is an ubiquitous compound present in every cell in the body. Essential for mitochondrial function, NAD in its various forms serves as the central catalyst in cells’ energy production and regulates enzymes involved in DNA repair, redox, metabolism and cell senescence. Preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that exposure to various chronic metabolic stresses is linked to a depletion of cells’ NAD pool. Since 2013, the ChromaDex External Research Program (CERP) has been supporting third-party independently funded NAD research. Recently the emphasis has transformed to include research focusing on optimizing health outcomes in multiple areas. This session will explore the emerging science on NR related to clinical and health outcomes and discuss research gaps and opportunities to inform optimizing NAD status through NR supplementation.
