Sponsored Satellite Program: Emerging Benefits of Whole Grains and Legumes: Impact of Dietary Diversity on Health

Sponsored By: PepsiCo

This Sponsored Satellite Program was originally presented at NUTRITION 2024, ASN's flagship meeting which was held June 29 to July 2, 2024 in Chicago, IL.

Join us as we review emerging nutritional and health benefits of under-consumed, fiber-rich dietary components including whole grains and legumes. Research presented will include both population-based observational studies as well as randomized controlled trials. The primary focus from a health benefit perspective will be new research on cardiometabolic, microbiome and mental health outcomes. The program will also explore the benefits of consuming a diverse diet rich in whole grains, fiber, and legumes and how dietary diversity can help meet nutrient needs and improve health endpoints.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the role of whole grains and legumes in a healthy dietary pattern and the nutrients and bioactive components they provide
  • Describe current state of the science for whole grains and legumes with respect to cardiometabolic, microbiome and mental health outcome
  • Describe the importance of dietary diversity on health outcomes and in meeting nutrient needs
