Early Environmental Exposures and Later Risk of Childhood Obesity and Metabolic Outcomes: Findings From the ECHO Program (NUTRITION 2026 On Demand Collection)
This course is included in the NUTRITION 2026 On Demand Collection.
This session will highlight projects from the National Institutes of Health Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Program addressing how early-life environmental exposures influence childhood obesity and metabolic outcomes, and potential implications for prevention strategies and public health interventions. Featured speakers will address (1) early life gut microbiome and childhood obesity, (2) digital media use and obesity among youth: the moderating role of physical activity and peer relationships, and (3) do perinatal or child health behaviors mitigate the obesogenic effect of in utero exposure to maternal overnutrition factors?
Originally presented at NUTRITION 2026, ASN's flagship meeting which was held July 25-28 in National Harbor, MD
