Since 1994, the U.S. and Canada have co-sponsored the development and publication of a harmonized set of nutrient standards, the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) values. This session will provide an update on the work that the Joint Federal U.S-Canada DRI working group has been conducting to support the upcoming National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) review of macronutrients (i.e., proteins, fats, and carbohydrates) that is inclusive of both total and subcomponents of each nutrient (amino acids, fatty acids, fibers, and sugars).
