ASN is proud to introduce Fireside Chats with the ASN President, Dr. Sarah L. Booth, Director of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University (HNRCA) and Senior Scientist and Leader of the Vitamin K Team at the HNRCA. A series of Fireside Chats will feature Dr. Booth interviewing influential leaders in nutrition to spark additional multisector, interdisciplinary conversations and ideas that advance the field of nutrition science in innovative ways among audience participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions for the interviews after they register to attend.
The Fireside Chat on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM ET will feature Caree Jackson Cotwright, PhD, RDN, LD, Director of Nutrition Security and Heath Equity, U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services; Erin McDonald, PhD, MPP, Senior Advisor, Co-Lead, HHS Food is Medicine Initiative, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and Pamela Schwartz, MPH, Executive Director, Community Health, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals as well as Dr. Booth, to discuss Advancing the Science of Food a/is Medicine. The discussion will highlight each panelist’s respective efforts to advance the science of Food a/is Medicine, the evidence supporting Food a/is Medicine’s impact on health of individuals and communities, health care use and associated costs, and Food a/is Medicine research gaps.
Future Fireside Chats will cover topics including reducing sodium consumption, global nutrition, and FDA’s reorganization for a unified Human Foods Program.
